TechO Newsletter Edition 1

Welcome to edition 1 of the QWA's "TechO Newsletter".

Hoping that this becomes the go-to place to find out about all things TechO!

A BIG BIG thank you to all of you that were able to Officiate at the Uesaka Barbell Australia League & Masters League Round 1 on the 25-26th February. Without such a professional group of volunteers we would not have been able to run this event.

Now's the time to start thinking about booking the best seats in the house for the upcoming State Senior & Junior Championships at Cougars Weightlifting Club, Chandler on the 1-2 April.  Keep a eye on your emails so that you don't miss out on your invitation to be part of the competition Officiating team!

The QWA's emphasis in the area of Officiating for 2017 is on upgrading those that have already commmenced their Technical Official education.

Existing Club referees - referee at three QWA competitions and sit and pass your written examination to upgrade to State level;

State Referee to National Referee -  To be permitted to undertake the examinations for upgrade to AWF National Referee, a Referee must, as a minimum, have satisfactorily fulfilled the following roles within the previous (2) years:
•Referee at three (3) Club or State Open events
•Referee at two (2) State Championship events
•Timekeeper at two (2) State Championship Events
•Undertake and pass the written examination prescribed by the Australian Weightlifting Federation
•Undertake and pass the practical examination prescribed by the Australian Weightlifting Federation

It is planned to have a Jury in place at the State Championships so that we can conduct the necessary practrical examinations for upgrade from State to National level referee.

We have had some website data entry anomolies - If you receive this email and you haven't completed any referee education please notify us at the QWA office:
