2018 Central Queensland Championships

Last weekend in Rockhampton the inaugural Central Queensland Weightlifting Championships were held. What a fabulous competition, in a fantastic venue. A big thank you to all the crew from CrossFit CQ Mavericks Weightlifting Club and in particular head coach Sean O'Neill. We saw lifters come from Emerald (Vivid Barbell Club - head coach Blake Repine), and Olypower (head coach Erin Georgeson)  to lift in the competition. Witnessed some great technique on the platform, and fantastic performances from all competitors. 21 lifters in all competed. A large number of lifters set new personal bests, and relative new comer to the Weightlifting Competition platform 19 year old Jake Standen put in a seemingly effortless performance to actually meet the qualifier for this years World Junior Championships.

Jake Standen took out both the Best Junior and Best Senior male lifter at the event with a sinclair score of 314.893.

Kara D'Arcy took out the Best female lifter of the Championships with a sinclair score of 200.211.
