State Junior & Senior Championships Wrap-up

Following on from the very successful running of the Queensland State Junior & Senior Weightlifting Championships at Milton Weightlifting Club, plans are now in full swing for the National Junior & Senior Weightlifting Championships to be held at Cougars Weightlifting Club 7-9 September under the scrutiny of our very experienced Event Organiser Ian Moir back from his stint at the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

With 155 entries in the competition the future for Queensland Weightlifting looks very exciting. There were battles in all bodyweight categories as the medals for each session were decided on the final lifts. It was great to see Brandon Wakeling back on the platform after his Gold Coast Commonwealth Games experience in April. Jett Gaffney set new AWF Youth records and Maddison Power set new AWF U15 and Youth records. Sandow Nasution and Robyn Morgan both broke AWF National Masters records. At State level we had Lauren Hastings (U15) and Fred Buchanan Masters 35-39yrs) setting new records.

A BIG thank you to Milton Weightlifting Club for hosting such a great event they certainly put a lot of hard work into the event taking great pride in delivering a quality experience for Queenslands lifters. And a BIG thankyou to all the Technical Officials and Volunteers for their valued input over 2 very long days of competition. Couldn't have been done it without you all!
