Thank you, Queensland Weightlifting Association members, for getting on board and supporting the 2020 QWA Club Challenge Round 1 with such great numbers. There were 152 online entries. It was very exciting to see so many lifters stepping on to the competition platform so early in the year.
The largest competition was held at Sunshine Coast Weightlifting Club in Nambour, with lifters from Tin Shed Weightlifting Club, and Noosa swelling out the entry numbers to 32. To make the most of the opportunity, upgrades from Club to State referee were conducted. Congratulations Hayley Ward, Beth Collins, Shane McNeill.
Townsville had 19 entries and this saw two of their referees, Bryce Knight and Stephanie Kirk also upgrade from Club to State referee level.
Numerous PB’s and a number of State and National records were set across the competitions from as far north as Cairns and as far south as Burleigh West.
We were all counting our blessing’s on the weekend that we were able to enjoy getting together with our weightlifting mates rather than having to fight fires.
As promised all entry fees from the competition along with some additional donated funds have gone to the Red Cross Disaster Relief and Recovery fund. $900 has been paid today with an additional $100 already paid through the link on our Facebook post. Great job all!!!
Just waiting on a couple of Clubs to submit their results and will be able to let you all know the Club rankings for the competition. Please also let us know if your club details are incorrect in the results as a matter of urgency.
