IMPORTANT National U15 & Youth Qualifying information

With the changes to calendar dates for 2021 we are now in the position of having our State U15 & Youth Championships (11th June) being conducted after the end of the qualifying period for the National U15 & Youth competition.

Minimum Qualifying Standard Youth Men & Women: K Grade  Under 15 Men & Women: Entrants must have achieved a Total in an AWF sanctioned event during the qualifying period.
Qualifying Period 13th November 2020 – 16th May 2021

All QWA members who plan on competing at the National U15 & Youth Championships in Hobart must have met the above qualifying requirements by the 16th May. Online entries via the QWA website will close on the 18th May.

The QWA has emailed its Affiliated Clubs and suggested that Clubs add in competition events from now through to the 16th May so that their members who are yet to qualify have a chance to meet these requirements.

Clubs will notify the QWA by email to qwa@qwa.org of their preferred dates for competitions so they can be added to the calendar. Where possible 2 weeks’ notice will assist with this process. Clubs can choose to run these competitions on any day of the week that best suits their needs.

Please also bear in mind that to compete at the Nationals you will also have to lift at the State U15 & Youth Championships or apply for an exemption.

Unfortunately we may find that some athletes may achieve the above qualifying requirements at our State Championship’s (11-13 June) but will be unable to enter the Nationals – as the entries will have already closed. Not the best result for our members, but unfortunately there is no opportunity for any of the dates to be changed.

Looking forward to a much more straight-forward year in 2022.
