The IMWA Masters Chairperson has instructed national federations not to provide the registration code to lifters until they have paid the entry fee. To manage this process, the AWF has setup an online payment gateway that will return the registration access code ON SCREEN, when the payment is processed.
The 2025 IMWA Masters World Championships entry fee is USD 200.00. The AWF is required to collect the fees of all Australian entrants and then transfer the total amount to the IMWA when entries close, so we have added USD 10.00 to cover bank charges and fluctuations in currency exchange rates. When paying the entry fee to the AWF, you will be charged the equivalent of USD 210.00 at the time that you make the payment.

Clarification on Qualification and Registration for the 2025 World Masters Weightlifting Championships
The International Masters Weightlifting Association (IMWA) announces that the 2025 World Masters Weightlifting Championships, scheduled from 4–13 September 2025, will adopt the new bodyweight categories. However, during the qualification period (5 September 2024 – 1 July 2025), most competitions will still operate under the old bodyweight categories.
To ensure clarity for athletes and National Chairs, the IMWA would like to outline the qualification and registration process:
- Choice of Bodyweight Category
Athletes may register for the bodyweight category of their choice, even if their bodyweight during the qualifying competition aligns with a different category. For example:
- If a female athlete competes in the W40-81kg category during qualification and her recorded bodyweight is 80.25kg, she may register for the W40-77kg category for the Championships.
- This is permissible as long as the total achieved in the qualifying competition meets or exceeds the minimum requirement for the chosen category (e.g., W40-77kg).
- Category Change Requests
Athletes who need to move up or down a category must submit a category change request through the Secretariat or their National Chair. These requests will be handled in accordance with IMWA regulations.
- Important Notes for Category Changes
- Minimum Start Total Adjustments: The Minimum Start Total will change according to Article 3.4 of the IMWA Rulebook. Athletes are responsible for ensuring compliance with this rule.
- Qualification Totals for Medals: To classify in the competition and be eligible for medals, athletes must achieve the Qualification Total for the category they compete in at the Championships.
