National Championships for 2021 Done & Dusted!!

30 Queensland lifters entered the 2021 National Senior Championships. All athletes needed to have met the minimum qualifying standard set by the AWF of E Grade.

A big thank you to Cougars Weightlifting club for hosting the SEQ Hub of the event, lead by onsite manager Angela Wydall, and Thunder Barbell Club the NQ Hub, event lead by onsite manager Bryce Knight. A big thank you to Jemma Cowper (QWA Secretary) for doing all the pre-event management to ensure that our athletes were as well-informed as possible; and Rawena Tairi (Vice President) for getting the volunteer side of things up and running; and Miles Wydall for keeping the IT requirements running smoothly.

It was fantastic to see so many of our Queensland Technical officials put up their hands to help in this far from ordinary competition format. Front and foremost in terms of visibility were Mike Keelan and Greg Hobl – MC’s for the event.
