All ages of athletes can enter the North Queensland Games Weightlifting event 4-5 May in Cairns at Dungeon Barbell Club http://www.crossfitdungeon.com/ This is a great additional opportunity for our northern regional members to compete in an endorsed QWA/AWF competition or athletes from outside this region to gain valuable additional competition experience.
Entry for athletes/members 29 yrs and under in 2024 can be made via the NQ Games entry portal: https://www.nqgames.com.au/ Where it asks for your membership number please just select any random 5 digit number.
Athletes in this section of the competition will be competing against competitors of their own respective age-groups: U13/U15/Youth/Junior/Senior for Gold/Silver/Bronze NQ Games medals calculated using Sinclair points.
Information for Masters members:
The qualifying period for the Queensland State Masters is 1/4/2023 – 31/3/2024. Once lifters have met this requirement they can enter the State Masters Championships; or apply for an exemption https://www.qwa.org/request-an-exemption/ to meet the eligibility requirements of competing at the National Championships.
With this year’s State Masters event being linked with the NQ Games competing athletes need to enter via the QWA website first and then use your receipt number as part of the entry process when you register on the NQ Games website. Masters athletes requesting an exemption are not required to register through the NQ Games portal.
If you successfully apply for an exemption so that you don’t compete in Cairns at the State Masters you are reminded that you still need to have lifted in a QWA/AWF event in the qualifying period of 3/11/2023 – 5/5/2024 to be eligible to compete at National Masters at the Gold Coast.
