Postponement of State Masters & Oly in the Outback

Dear QWA Masters & Oly in the Outback Competitor

We have heard your concerns regarding the likely impact of the weather on everyone’s travel plans and running of this weekend’s event.

We hereby give notice of the postponement of the event to the 3-4th May 2025.

Important information:

  • The competition will be held at the same location
  • The competition schedule will largely remain the same as already circulated
  • All competitors are asked to confirm their intention of competing on the changed date no later than 2nd   April via email to qwa@qwa.org
  • Those no longer able to compete will have a competition exemption approved so that they are still eligible to compete at National Masters – bearing in mind that they also need to have competed in a competition between 1 July 2024 to 14 September 2025
  • Existing Exemptions (having paid the full entry fee) remain approved. Where those with Exemptions are now available to lift on the new dates you are requested to join a waiting list to fill vacant spaces in the schedule as we are notified of them. Noting that we will only be able to back fill the current number of entries so that we stay within the constraints of a very busy two days of competition – email qwa@qwa.org to join the waiting list
  • “Oly in the Outback” entrants may organise for another athlete (not currently registered for the event) to take their place if they are no longer able to compete on the new dates as there are no capacity for refunds or credits of your entry fees. Any transfers need to be notified via email to qwa@qwa.org by 2nd April
  • A new request for Volunteers to run the event will be circulated around the 4th April. It has been a very slow and painful experience filling the volunteer roster for this event. Please ensure you factor into your travel plans the need to volunteer for at least one session. Volunteers running our events help us keep competition costs down and help build a strong connected weightlifting family!

We apologise for the inconvenience this causes you, however the safety and wellbeing of our members remains our priority as we head into the upcoming inclement weather. Stay safe and see you all in May!
