Queensland Rocks National Masters!

The Queensland crew absolutely rocked the Masters National Championships!
They brought their A-game and had a blast on and off the platform. With some
epic wins and heaps of laughs, it was a weekend to remember. Their team spirit
was like no other state – making friends and memories that will last well beyond the
last lift.
The Championships were held at the Mantra on View at Surfers Paradise from the
19th of June to the 23rd of June with a total of 98 QLD entrants and 95 making it to
the event. This event was also combined with the Oceania Masters Championship
and the UMWF World Cup.

The team was lead by team leader Jemma Cowper, head coach Greg Hobl and staff coaches Chelsea Weston, Iain Blacow and David Bock. Sincere thanks from the QWA community to all of them volunteering their personal time for such a lengthy competition.

Unfortunately Lukas Gardner and Rhian Rousoss had to withdraw from their staff coach appointments due to work commitments and illness. Personal coaches Erika Yamasaki, Callum Hannay, Christian Hopper, Woogie Marsh, Taj Marsh, Jason McNamara, James Mildren, Jo Thompson and Adi Karniewicz were there to fill the gaps helping the staff support this massive team of lifters.

Alex Croot was selected as our QLD representative technical official, however a
large number of lifters and QLD-ers also volunteered for different technical official
roles, (including QWA Operations Manager Deb Keelan) bump in/out duties and loading.
Unfortunately we did not come away with either of the team trophies however
QLD athletes still came away with saw some of the amazing achievements below:
