QWA / Duke of Ed Partnership
The Queensland Weightlifting Association is proud to partner with The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award through the Duke 4Sport initiative. This collaboration offers young individuals aged 14 to 24 the opportunity to engage in weightlifting activities that contribute to their Duke of Ed Level Physical Recreation, Skills, and Voluntary Service sections.


Get Involved with QWA
We offer three distinct pathways for Duke of Ed Framework Users:
1. Voluntary Service – Give Back to the Sport
A. Refereeing – Learn the rules of Olympic Weightlifting and officiate competitions at club and state levels.
B. Event Volunteer – Support the smooth operation of competitions by assisting with event setup, scoring, and athlete coordination.
C. Coach Education – Start your journey to becoming a weightlifting coach by engaging in training and mentorship programs.
2. Physical Recreation – Have Fun, Get Active, Improve Your Wellbeing
- Train in Olympic Weightlifting to build strength, agility, and confidence.
- Work with qualified coaches to develop technical skills and improve overall fitness.
- Engage in a structured training program to enhance your physical abilities and performance.
3. Skills – Grow New Skills and Strength
- Develop discipline, goal-setting, and perseverance through weightlifting training.
- Improve technique and lifting proficiency under the guidance of experienced coaches.
- Progress through the sport as an athlete while building valuable life skills
