63 youngsters hit the QWA State U13/U15 & Youth Championships platform at Ipswich Weightlifting Club https://www.ipswichweightliftingclub.com/ on the weekend of 26-27 August. Competitors included one overseas guest from Singapore with AWF approval. His coach used this opportunity to give his athlete some competition experience. I imagine we will get to see him on the international stage again in the future.

Particular mention to those regional athletes who travelled a significant distance to compete at the event: Ika Ryan, Callum Andersen from Townsville region, and Tyson Williams-Allen, Katiah Marriage, Rhys Williams-Allen from the Whitsundays region. With the arrival of our Queensland Government funding these athletes will be able to apply to the QWA for partial reimbursement of their expenses.

U15 & Youth aged athletes are now preparing for the upcoming National Championships in Perth in November. We wish them all the very best with their preparations. Remember entries close online Monday 18th September. As part of their preparations a squad training day will be hosted at Cougars Weightlifting Club on the 21 October so that they can meet with the Team Staff and their fellow athletes.
